Full Event Details/Description:
The Doha Players, Qatar's notable and longest-standing community theatre organization, formally announce their annual production: a British-style pantomime adaptation of the classic narrative, Beauty and the Beast.
This high-energy theatrical presentation promises a unique combination of magic, mischief, and marvellous mayhem, offering a distinctive and hilarious inversion of the traditional fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast. The production follows the characteristic conventions of the pantomime genre, guaranteeing an evening of engaging, family-oriented entertainment.
This production takes the beloved fairy tale and transforms it into a larger-than-life comedy brimming with all the beloved traditions of panto:
- The Story: A once-charming prince is cursed by the vain and villainous Sacré Bleu, becoming a terrifying, hairy Beast, and his home is filled with quirky, enchanted objects (expect talking teapots and more!).
- The Comedy: The road to true love is anything but smooth, thanks to a cast of outrageous characters, including Belle’s eccentric inventor father and her outrageous nanny.
- Audience Interaction: This production is packed with opportunities to cheer the heroes, boo the villains, and of course, shout the essential panto catchphrase: “It’s behind you!”
- The Spectacle: The show is a feast for the eyes and ears, featuring toe-tapping tunes, outrageous costumes, dazzling dance numbers, and plenty of slapstick humour and cheesy puns for a truly unforgettable family treat.
Qatar's Community Theatre Heart
The Doha Players maintain their commitment to delivering performances of significant communal and cultural value within the region.
- Community Focused: This not-for-profit group is run by dedicated volunteers from over 20 countries, uniting the local and expatriate communities.
- Unique Vision: Their distinct British-style panto is deliberately not the Disney version, ensuring a fresh, unique, and wildly funny production focused on maximum audience interaction.
Will love conquer all before the last petal falls? Find out in this magical pantomime for all ages!
